Chiltern Barn is a 230 year old converted hay barn in Wheeler End in Buckinghamshire – half way between London and Oxford, close to Marlow and Henley-on-Thames with easy access to the M40.
Wheeler End is a small village in The Chilterns built around a large common. There is a friendly local pub, The Chequers and Lane End, less than mile away has local amenities, including a well stocked Londis, a newsagents, excellent farm shop, gastro-pub, Indian and Chinese takeaways, hair dressers etc.
The space
The barn is set on two floors, downstairs is a kitchen & dining area, seating area with a chair and a large comfy sofa plus TV with Sky Sports. The toilet/shower room is also on the ground floor.
Upstairs is a flexible sleeping area reached via a double staircase; the open plan room has the original beamed roof dating back 230 years.
There is a large zip and link bed which can be configured for your requirements – super king 6ft x 6ft 6” or if you are just friends it can be divided into 2 singles. Plus there are 2 large singles 3ft x 6ft 6”. We usually have the beds set up as a king size double and two large singles but this can be changed to four singles to suit your needs. Ideal for tall people as there are no footboards!
There is a small patio outside the front of the barn with a table and 3 chairs – ideal for al fresco breakfast in the morning sun.
Guest access
The barn is a separate building with private access, a small patio at the front and parking in the cobbled courtyard next to the house. The yard easily accommodates 2 visitors cars, but we can park more off road if required.
We live in the house next door and usually welcome new arrivals to the barn, we are available if you need any assistance. If for any reason we cannot be there when you arrive we will leave a key in a key safe for you.
Other things to note
We include a few basics to get you going – milk, tea, coffee, nespresso capsules, oil and salt and pepper. We also supply cleaning materials, dishwasher tablets and washing up liquid.
Breakfast and cream teas can be provided at an extra cost. If you have any particular requirements just let us know and we’ll do our best to accommodate.
